Frequently Asked Questions
About Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL)

Q: Do I need to have prior experience with horses?

A: Absolutely not. The beauty of this work is that it requires no prior horse experience—just an open heart and a willingness to be present. The sessions focus on ground activities, not riding, and are safe and supportive.

Q: Am I expected to ride the horse?

A: No. All sessions are conducted entirely from the ground. We focus on building a relationship and communicating through non-verbal cues. The profound insights come from interacting with the horse, not riding it.

Q: Is Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) therapy or counseling?

A: EAL is a form of experiential education and coaching. While the experience is deep, transformative, and therapeutic in nature, it is NOT therapy or counseling. We focus on present challenges, goal setting, and future-oriented change, drawing on my expertise in organizational change and leadership.

Q: What is the benefit of using horses instead of traditional coaching?

A: Horses are masterful teachers because they are prey animals who live entirely in the present moment. They provide immediate, non-judgmental, and honest feedback about your energy, clarity, and boundaries. This unfiltered feedback accelerates self-awareness and helps you practice new ways of leading and communicating in a way that no conference room or office setting can replicate.

Q: How should I dress for a session?

A: Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dusty, and always wear CLOSED-TOE SHOES OR BOOTS (no sandals or open-toed shoes for safety). We recommend wearing layers as the weather can change.

Q: How long does a session last?

A: Standard private sessions are typically 75-90 minutes. Group and team sessions are customized based on the program length.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

A: That depends entirely on your goals. Some clients gain a breakthrough and clarity in a single intensive session. Others prefer a short series of 3-5 sessions to work through a complex transition and integrate the learning more deeply. We will discuss the best fit during our initial alignment.
